On July 1, Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) staff donated and delivered 20 refurbished computers and monitors to the students of Granite Pointe Elementary School in Bakersfield.

CDCR and KVSP understand the needs of local school-age children and the department is supportive of their education. The computers will be the start of a computer learning lab and will enhance almost every aspect of learning for the kids at Granite Point Elementary school.

Local radio station KUZZ in Bakersfield interviewed Warden Kelly Harrington about the computer donation project.

“We feel that a good education is one of the basic pillars to building a better community and we at Kern Valley State Prison are proud to partner with our local schools,” said Warden Harrington. “It feels good to do what we can, and it feels even better knowing these computers will be put to great use by these kids”.
