California Institution for Women’s personnel adopt families

By Lt. Felix J. Figueroa, Administrative Assistant/PIO

The California Institution for Women’s (CIW) staff members were able to help spread holiday cheer to local families again this year.

CIW staff members adopted families that were identified as being less fortunate or disadvantaged.

Pastor Abel Tamez Sr. and Ruth Tamez from Salvation Army in Ontario were contacted and put the wheels in motion, and CIW adopted 14 families.

Families are identified through the Salvation Army.  The family submits a wish list.  The CIW staff in turn purchased the gifts for the families.

The gifts truly came from the heart and instilled connection with our community.  By adopting the families, the staff had an opportunity to give back and make the holidays a happier time for those families in need.

That was nice as well as thoughtful of them to do based on a lot of parents such as females are incarcerated.
