The Incarcerated Vietnam Veterans of America (IVVA), Chapter 1065, at the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) held its second annual Memorial Day celebration on May 29.

Donations were presented to the Monterey County Stand Down, Monterey Veterans Transition Center, the California State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Ord,  and the Monterey County Food Bank.

The IVVA Honor Guard conducted a presentation of their flag-folding skills in honor of all the military men and women and those who died in service to the United States.

The celebration was hosted by Michael “Doc” Piper, Commander of Chapter 1065.

Warden Marion Spearman said, “I am truly blessed to have such a dignified professional prison Honor Guard.”

Special guests included Steve Mackey, President of the California State Council of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and Terry Hubert, Vietnam Veterans of America, National Veterans Justice Committee Chairman.

Also attending were Ken and Betty Rodgers,  co-producers of the documentary film “Bravo! Common Men, Uncommon Valor,” which was shown to the IVVA on May 28.
