David J. Calmere

The Correctional Training Facility (CTF) reports the passing of Correctional Officer David J. Calmere.

Officer Calmere was killed in a vehicle accident in San Benito County on July 12 at approximately 12:28 p.m.

Officer Calmere began his career with the State of California on Oct. 29, 2007. He started working at CTF on Feb. 23, 2008.

    Dave and I carpooled to the academy and were in the same company as well as worked at CTF together. I’m honored to have known Dave, he is a great man, partner, friend and most importantly father!     A celebration of David’s life will be on Tuesday, July 30, at 10:00 am. It will be at Refuge in Atascadero. The church is located on Portola St. We welcome his friends to help us remember David.

    My heartfelt condolences go out to all the family and friends that knew Dave Calmere. I knew Dave since the late 90s, and we shared a lot of good times! I will truly miss Dave, and I am so saddened on the sudden loss of his life. Dave led a quiet life, but had a kind heart. I’ll always remember the times that we had spent together, and those memories will not be forgotten. May God bring his peace and comfort to all those that are mourning his death.     Officer Calmere and I were in Delta Company in the academy. He was a very pleasant person to talk to. He always had positive things to say. Calmere you will be missed. My prayers goes out to the Calmere Family. God bless

    Officer Calmere and I went to the academy together and then to CTF. He was a great person and one of the few postive thinkers in CDCR to talk to. He loved his family and will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to the Calmere familly!

    I had the opportunity to work with Officer Calmere when he first arrived to CTF at North Facility. A great Officer and a great positive person. Sad to hear of his passing. Prayers and thoughts go out to his family as well as all those who worked with David.

      David, was a wonderful son. He lit up our hearts with his beautiful smile and his tenderness. He loved his family and they loved him and will miss him so much until we are all reunited again. He was proud to be doing the work he did and he had a bond with his fellow officers that he truly enjoyed. We will remember all the good he did and cherish the time we had with him. He was a blessing from God to us. Thanks for all the kind thoughts, David’s family really appreciates it.
