High Desert State Prison (HDSP) recently donated a total of $3,000 to two Susanville community groups.

The Lassen Youth Soccer League received $1,500 that will be used, in part, for scholarships for families who cannot afford the fees for their children to play soccer. Part of the donation will be used to purchase new equipment for the league.

The other $1,500 was given to the Lassen Family Services Women’s Shelter to be used for day-to-day operations.

The donations from HDSP were raised through an Inmate Charitable Group fund drive.

This program has been a great opportunity to give back to the local community.
