Avenal uses Staff Appreciation Day to remember 9/11

Lt. M.A. Tuntakit, PIO/Administrative Assistant

Avenal State Prison

September 11, 2001, is a day that left no corner of the world untouched.  It shall always be remembered as the day America United and brave men and women lost their lives to help others.

In remembrance to all those who gave the ultimate price, the Employee Action Committee  at Avenal State Prison conducted a Staff Appreciation day on 9-11-13, showing their appreciation to those that continue to risk their lives in order to keep the public, inmates, and each other safe every day.

This was huge turnout with more than  1,000 free lunches passed out to our staff, but the biggest success was to be able to personally thank those that we count on every day behind the wall.

Warden Carl Wofford, along with his executive staff, was on hand to cook up some hot dogs throughout the night and into the afternoon.

Special thanks to CCSO, CCPOA, and SEIU for their donations.

It was a very nice day, All Staff was able to have lunch and enjoy alittle visiting with others, while waiting for their lunch.
We fed quite a few hungry people.

    Great Job All!!
