CRC donates 2,000 flags in honor of Veteran’s Day

By Lt. Martin Alexi, Administrative Assistant/PIO

California Rehabilitation Center

The California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) donated 2,000 flags to the Riverside National Cemetery in honor of Veterans day.  Proceeds for inmate food sales at CRC funded the donation.

Hundreds of volunteers placed flags on the graves of fallen soldiers for the Veterans Day weekend. It was planned that the effort would provide a flag for every one of the Riverside National Cemetery’s 200,000 graves.

CRC was proud to participate in this humanitarian effort, said Warden Cynthia Tampkins

“We are blessed to be able to give to others who are less fortunate, and we wish we could have given more” Warden Tampkins said.

My dad, Julian L. Casas, USAAF, WWII is resting at this cemetery. I’ve been going there since he passed away three years ago. There have been flags on the tombstones, but never on ALL of them. When I went on Sunday, to my surprise, every single veteran had one. I thank each and every one of the inmates that made this so special, and made my heart smile so much. Please let them know this. I thank them from the bottom of my heart. God bless them all. Proud WWII Daughter 🙂
