David Goulart

Avenal State Prison (ASP) reports the passing of retired Correctional Officer David Goulart on Nov. 15.

He started his CDCR career on Jan. 5, 1987 when he started the Department of Corrections Basic Academy.

Officer Goulart worked at ASP until he transferred to Salinas Valley State Prison (SVP) on Dec. 5, 2011. He retired as a Correctional Officer on April 30, 2012.

Services will be held in Monterey at the Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, followed by a rosary.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 at San Carlos Cathedral, 500 Church Street, Monterey.

    Without Goulart, there’ll never be another “Chicken Head.” It was an honor to work with him.

    I was so shocked to hear about his passing. He was such a good friend, always wanting the best and seeing the best in people. That is a good quality to have, and he sure had that. It’s true, he left us too soon, and he will be sorely missed. Thank you Carole Torres for introducing David to me. He was such a good friend and gentleman, with a great heart. 🙂

    I was so sorry to hear this. He was a great friend who left us way too soon and we will all miss him from Fresno County Sheriff’s Department to CDCR.
