Kern Valley State Prison

More than 200 students at a Delano school received $25 gift certificates, thanks to the efforts of Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) staff.

KVSP adopted Pond School in Delano for the holidays. The school serves students from Kindergarten to the 8th grade.

The Adopt a School Christmas Program this year consisted of a Christmas Gift Card Distribution from Santa Claus and one of his elf helpers.

Two hundred and twenty-four students received a $25 gift certificate for Wal-Mart made possible by a Food Sale Fund raiser by the inmates at KVSP.

“It is such a wonderful feeling to be able to give back (and) I am so proud of Kern Valley’s dedication to the local community, it was especially delightful to see how the children at Pond School expressed their gratitude for the gift card they received from Santa,” said Warden Martin Biter.
