CIM helps provide 120 bikes for families in need

California Institution for Men

The California Institution for Men (CIM) in partnership with the city of Chino and Waste Management this year bought joy to 120 families in Chino. The partnership has provided bikes to the families in need during the Christmas season for the past three years.

One bike equals a million smiles.

Warden (A) Tim Perez supports activities such as the bike giveaway that foster positive relationships with the community and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).

James Herrera, Vocational Carpentry Shop Instructor, and 15 inmates took on the project of putting the bikes together.

Toys from the CIM Toy Drive were donated to the local Salvation Army and the Chino Preserve Fire Station Spark of Love Toy Drive.

Angela Wirth, president of the Chino Valley Employees Association, Business Services Associate Warden, Molly Hill and staff held fundraisers to provide toys to the Children at the Prototypes Women’s Center in Pomona, YWCA San Gabriel Valley and New Beginnings Church in Chino.

Community organizations were in great need this year. Pulling together shows the dedication of staff and the strength of CDCR and its community partners.
