The red and green barrels are gone, and with them went more than a ton of food donated by CDCR employees to the California State Employees Food Drive.

CDCR employees at various Headquarters sites – stretching from Birkmont Drive in Rancho Cordova to 1515 S Street, with stops at Goethe Road, Old Placerville Road and Laguna Springs Drive – donated a total of 2,326 pounds to the food drive, which was run in partnership with the nonprofit California Emergency Foodlink.

Brenda Coker, vice president of operations and facilities at Foodlink, thanked CDCR employees for “all of the dedicated work and generous donations to make life a little easier for those in need in our community.”

John Pedigo, statewide coordinator of the state employee food drive, echoed her sentiments.

“Thank you for making an effort in your agencies to feed our community,” he said.
