CDCR ‘wait staff’ raise funds for Special Olympics

Give your waitress at the Chili’s at 2001 Harbison Drive in Vacaville a break Thursday evening; it’s not her day job. And give her a hefty tip; it goes to a good cause.

Between 5 and 9 p.m. Thursday, those waiting on you will include staff members from California State Prison, Solano, and the California Medical Facility.

The tips that the men and women from the institutions receive will benefit the 16,000 athletes who participate in the Special Olympics of Northern California.

The “Tip-a-Cop” program brings together law enforcement personnel and Special Olympics athletes for a day of fun, food and awareness. Every year, law enforcement personnel volunteer as celebrity wait staff, helping to serve food and refill drinks, all for “tips” for Special Olympics.

So, if your waiter misses your water glass, just dig deeper and leave him a big, soggy tip.
