The California State Prison-Los Angeles County (LAC) and the Veterans Group on Facility “A” recently sponsored a catered Famous Dave’s Barbeque luncheon for the William J. “Pete” Knight Veterans Home in Lancaster.

The Veterans Home currently has 57 men and women residents and a capacity of 60. There are 33 Army, 12 Navy, four Air Force and two Marines veterans. Six of the residents are spouses of veterans.

The home’s residents were served beef brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, barbeque wings, beans, coleslaw and potato salad by LAC staff.  Wal-Mart gift cards were given away as door prizes and each veteran received a gift card to the Cinemark Movie Theatre.  Also, the California Staff Assault Task Force donated collared shirts for all.

The event was made possible by staff and inmates.
