Officer Chavez not only was a great partner but also a great friend. I had the privilege of knowing him and his family. He will definitely be missed. My prayers are with his family.

I had the pleasure of meeting and having this gracious man working for me in the Visiting Department. I met him when he returned to work after his first fight with his terrible condition. He won that fight! He was the strongest person I have met. He came back to work when his first fight would have floored most people. Then he fought again. He won the second fight! This time, he choose to spend his time with his wonderful family. Treasuring every moment he had with them. This man touched and inspired many people. Eventually, as everyone does, he finally lost his battle. However, I believe he still won. He fought to the end. He recognized how precious family is and how fragile life really is. He is an angel and will be missed. I am honored to have met this man.

A very compassionate and extremely professional C/O. As a brand new C/O straight from the Academy, he took me by the hand and patiently show me “how to tie the ropes” as a Visiting Officer. He will definitely do the same thing in heaven!

I remember Officer Chavez as a gracious and very professional officer, who used to work at A yard plaza gate. He opened the gate for us as we came and went. He had a sweet spirit and a quiet dignity. He will definitely be missed.
