High Desert State Prison hosted a mobile blood drive in coordination with United Blood Services, resulting in a total of 28 units being donated to the local blood supply.

United Blood Services community blood centers across the country provide blood, blood components and special services for patients in more than 500 hospitals in 18 states. More than 25 million people in communities throughout these states depend on United Blood Services’ volunteer blood donors to make sure lifesaving blood is available when and where it is needed.

During 2013, High Desert State Prison hosted five blood drives during which employees donated a total of 146 units to the local blood supply.
