On Sept. 11, the High Desert State Prison/California Correctional Center Honor Guard, California Highway Patrol, Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the Susanville Fire Department, along with representatives from law enforcement and emergency medical services from the City of Susanville and Lassen County, participated in the annual 9/11 memorial at the Susanville Fire Department.

During the event, the fire department displays a case containing a piece of one of the towers from Ground Zero. Several ranks of uniformed personnel attend the ceremony each year.

Susanville is a small community; with many either in or connected to emergency medical service, law enforcement or the military.  It is always an honor for CDCR staff to attend the ceremony and pay tribute to our fallen sisters and brothers.
