The Mule Creek Fire Department, with the help of the City of Ione Fire Department, raised a large flag over the plaza to commemorate the event.

MCSP Warden Joe A. Lizarraga led staff in the Pledge of Allegiance to open the solemn ceremony.

After a speech by the Warden, staff reflected on their own memories of 9-11 during a moment of silence.

The ceremony concluded with a single trumpet rendition of “Taps” played by Associate Warden Bryan Holmes.

I admire and respect all who attended/participate in the ceremony. Not only was it a wonderful to pay respect and remember the ones who were lost/hurt; it was a sense of support to those who survived the tragedy or to the families and friends of the losts.
