Wasco State Prison-Reception Center (WSP-RC) completed their annual Adopt-a-Child Program for 2014, resulting in many happy children.

This year, WSP-RC employees (custody, support, medical and dental) pulled together and purchased, wrapped and provided to Santa Claus (Capt. Darren White) and Mrs. Claus (Mrs. Darren White and Stephanie Boisselle shared the role) more than 200 gifts for distribution to children in the local community of Wasco.

Excited staff delivered gifts to four local schools, Wasco Headstart, Sunrise Villa Headstart, Wasco Exceptional Orthopedic School and Allensworth School.

The children at Allensworth School received an added bonus as Santa and Mrs. Claus were brought to the school via a fire truck, provided by Alpaugh Fire Department.

“The smiles on all children were priceless,” said one organizer. “WSP-RC staff went above and beyond with many children receiving presents such as bicycles, toys, computer games, gift cards and sporting equipment.”

The collection, organizing and facilitating of this process was handled by Sabrina Lynch-Aguiniga, Community Resource Manager.
