Robert Briggs

Chuckawalla Valley State Prison (CVSP) reported the passing of retired former Warden Robert Briggs on Feb. 10, 2015.

Warden Briggs started his career as an Officer at California Institution for Men in 1953 and promoted to Sergeant at CIM in 1958.

He then promoted to Correctional Lieutenant at Pilot Rock Crestline in 1962. In 1963, he promoted to Correctional Program Supervisor at SCC, promoted to Senior Special Agent in 1974, Correctional Administrator/Warden at California Men’s Colony in 1982.

In 1985, he was appointed Chief Deputy Warden at Folsom State Prison. In 1989, he was appointed Warden at CVSP. He served as Warden until 1990.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 at Chapel of Roses, 3450 El Camino Real, in Atascadero.

    R.I.P., Bob. My condolences to the family. He and my dad were Officers together at CIM in the early ’50s.
