Correctional officers honored for saving man’s life

Farnetti, Painter named Officers of the Year for South San Joaquin County

Correctional Officers John Farnetti and Chad Painter were named Officers of the Year for the seven agencies of South San Joaquin County.

American Legion Post 172 held its annual Law and Order dinner recognizing first-responders from the local, State and Federal law enforcement and fire agencies.

Nearly 200 were in attendance for the 20th annual event on Feb. 21.

The seven agencies include:

• Tracy Police Department
• Tracy Fire Department
• Defense Logistics Agency – Police Department
• Defense Logistics Agency – Fire Department
• San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department
• CA Highway Patrol – Tracy Office
• CA Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation – Deuel Vocational Institution

Officers Farnetti and Painter were awarded a plaque from the American Legion, a certificate from Congressman Jeff Denham’s office and a certificate from the Board of Supervisors office Bob Elliott. There was also a news story in the Tracy Press.

The officers were supported by family, friends and Deuel Vocational Institution co-workers during the ceremony which recognized the heroic act of saving a citizen’s life while on their way to work.

A special guest included Mr. Robles, the heart attack victim saved by Officers Farnetti and Painter.

    Farnetti and Painter, thank you for representing Correctional Officers in such a good way. Your recognition and awards are well-deserved, and your actions admirable.
