Warden presents $1,000 to help feed community’s needy

High Desert State Prison

High Desert State Prison Warden (A) Suzanne Peery recently presented a donation of $1,000 to Carly Winship and Monique Schofield of the Lassen County Food Council.

This donation is from the High Desert State Prison Charitable Fund which is generated from inmate fundraising activities throughout the year.

The Lassen County Food Council comprises representatives from several local agencies throughout the county.

The council will use this donation to provide food and slow cookers for their food education program teaching low income families how to cook healthy meals as an alternative to buying more expensive prepackaged meals.
