S0me inmates at CTF-Soledad are trying to learn new parenting skills through a self-help group, which recently raised money for the Get on the Bus program.

Fathers Behind Bars, an inmate-sponsored self-help group, donated $400 to Get on the Bus.

The donation demonstrates their support of the Fathers Behind Bars mission which focuses on the development of effective parenting skills.

The Get on the Bus program is an annual event offering free transportation for the children and their caregivers to the prison on Father’s day weekend. This helps further another of Fathers Behind Bars goals of helping children develop a healthy self-esteem. The event also allows inmates to maintain productive communication with children by providing an opportunity to practice the skills they learn in their weekly meetings, according to organizers.
