Folsom State Prison, the second prison constructed in the state, is gearing up to recognize its anniversary.

The Old Guard Foundation is hosting Folsom Prison Rocks, “celebrating 135 years of rock-solid public safety,” from 5-11 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma St., Folsom.

The bash features a no-host bar, barbecue buffet dinner and live music by Los Angeles-area based Johnny Cash tribute band, The Walking Phoenixes.

In 1880, the prison received its first 44 inmates transferred from San Quentin State Prison.

The event is a benefit fundraiser to improve the museum at Folsom Prison.
