You were the first and last person everyone saw at Solano’s B-Side entrance on most days. You represented Solano and greeted everyone with respect and have always made sure that staff/visitors were safe and compliant with their attire. CSP-Solano has lost a truly, outstanding correctional officer. You will be missed by your friends, family, co-workers and the many lives you have touched. RIP Officer Brislane

On Fridays and Saturdays, Michael Brislane would always pick on me for bringing in a small lunch or a salad lunch. He would accuse me of cheating on my diet by making a secret stop at an In-n-Out or McDonald’s on my way to work. He made sure other officers at the entrance knew that I was cheating because I had a diet lunch in my bag but also had “In-and-Out breath.”

Solano SP and my job won’t be the same without him!

Though I no longer entered through the B-side entrance, any opportunity that I had I would stop in just to see C/O Brislane. He had an uplifting spirit that will greatly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I’ll miss him always.

Brizz, you will be greatly missed. You were always so pleasant to be around and happy. I will miss you asking what is for lunch every Friday. God bless you. R.I.P

Officer Brislane was one of the happy memories I have of CSP-Solano. Always the professional, and with a smile. We need more like him.
    Rest in peace.

Officer Brislane was such a friendly officer. During processing for visits, my 4 year old daughter would always walk to the side counter there and watch him as he called buildings for visits, he would laugh and say “she’s making sure I’m doing my job”…..
You are going to be missed by not only staff at Solano but by visitors as well. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time. God hand picks his Angels…

You will be missed by many, sir! Your warm approach to everyone who entered CSP SOL made a huge difference and will surely be missed. God gained one amazing angel!

Officer Brislane was truly an exceptional person and officer. He made each day a little bighter as we all passed through the gates. He was the true example of professionalism and integrity. It was a pleasure to have known him and to have had him work for me.

  13. J. Shea Saturday, October 17, 2015 / 8:04 am

C/O Brislane was a great officer. When I started in the department two years ago I had many questions about my job and Brislane always had an answer for me. He would always tell me, “It’s easy Shea, all you have to do is this” and then he would explain in real simple terms what I needed to know. As so many have said before, his smile and warm greeting will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, my friend.

  14. Leslie Jensen Friday, October 16, 2015 / 12:03 pm

Officer Brislane was a very kind, consistent, funny (very dry) and good person and loved Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies. Every Thursday and Friday he greeted you at the entrance and let you know if what you were wearing was questionable. He was always concerned for safety.
His smile and weekly greetings will be missed.

I’m so sorry to hear about his passing. He has two incredible young daughters that he was an amazing father to. Thank you for your service! Prayers to Lauren and Shawnee and to his co-workers. He was also an awesome mentor to my son. This is a horrible loss for our family and the community.

  16. Wanda.Case Friday, October 16, 2015 / 8:56 am

Brizz, I miss you so much already. You were taken too soon. There will never be another person who will say to me, “Wanda, your killing me” like you did. My heart hurts that you had to go, but I think god needed another angel, so he picked you. Love you, Brizz.

  17. J. Casner Friday, October 16, 2015 / 8:36 am

The consummate professional, Brislane was. I did not exit B side often, but he still knew my name…and not last, but first also! Last time I saw him, I was in the IST classroom. “Hello, Jenny. How have you been doing?” he said with the nicest smile and sincere tone. Amazing to see his smiling face and positive attitude whenever I encountered him. I was shocked and disheartened to hear of his passing. He will be missed by many. He is now an angel of the sky watching over the souls he has touched. Rest in peace.

First time I met Brislane, or should I say every time I met Brislane, he always had a smile on his face and was always happy to see me as well as everyone coming into work. Most of all, he was happy seeing us all coming out of work safe and sound.
My greatest memory of him was the last time I saw him. I was working up in the front entrance for the first time. I was nervous and wasn’t sure what to do. Brislane knew this and stayed about 20 minutes past the end of his shift to show me how to run the front entrance. He never complained about leaving work late after a long day, all that was on his mind was to make sure that I would be ok. You are a legend in my book and as the old saying goes, “Legends Never Die”. RIP, my friend. My partner. My brother. Correctional Officer Brislane.

  19. T. SUTTON Thursday, October 15, 2015 / 2:44 pm

What a shock it was to find out Officer Brislane passed away. In all the years I have worked at Solano, I never heard him say a mean word. He had nothing but an infectious smile and greeting to everyone who walked through the Level III entrance. I could go on and on about what a wonderful person/officer CSP-Solano lost, but I think everyone will understand reading all the wonderful comments about this outstanding officer. I will miss all of our wonderful talks about our kids.
    R.I.P. Correctional Officer Brislane

You’re absolutely right! He smiled everyday. He encouraged everyone who needed advice and he was honest to his core. He will be missed by many. May the Lord strengthen his family during this difficult time.

  20. S. Moss Thursday, October 15, 2015 / 1:44 pm

RIP Brislane. My thoughts and prayers are with Brislane’s family and friends during this difficult time.
I can only imagine how terrible this great loss is that they’re experiencing. You have but to look around here at CSP-SOL to see what a positive impact Officer Brislane had on most people he came into contact with — just in passing in the course of his duties — to know that those who know him most intimately have truly suffered a great loss. Brislane always greeted me with a kind word and smile and I will be forever grateful for his professionalism and kindness towards me. Officer Brislane was a shining light in this sometimes dark and negative environment.

  21. C. Dutra Wednesday, October 14, 2015 / 8:10 pm

Bris, you left us all to soon. Is it being selfish to say we all want you back?

I can hear you say, “Hey, Du.”

    You touched us all.

  22. Mark Kelley Wednesday, October 14, 2015 / 7:29 pm

Upset to hear about his passing. Prayers go out to his family, friends and co-workers. He was one of the nicest guys I worked with. “You are and always will be my friend.” Rest in peace, my friend.

  23. S. Lane Wednesday, October 14, 2015 / 6:35 pm

I was always so glad to see Brislane on duty when I walked through the Level III entrance. He had a kind heart and friendly face, always polite, respectful and willing to have a few words. Although I’ve retired and haven’t seen him in awhile, I miss knowing he would not be behind that counter if I ever was to walk through those doors again, although his spirit lives on. God rest his soul.
CSP-Solano has lost a truly wonderful Officer.

  24. S.Kyle Wednesday, October 14, 2015 / 4:59 pm

Officer M. Brislane, I am going to miss seeing his smiling face in the morning when I would get to work and him calling me Kylee. I’ve been out of work since July due to my accident, but I never thought he wouldn’t be there smiling when I would return. R.I.P You are in the hearts of all of us, and you will be missed. Kylee

I will miss you, Mike. I worked with Mike for over 10 years. He sat behind me while processing vistors at the B side entrance for many years. I will miss you calling me at 0730 Hours every Sunday just to say “Hello.” I will miss your motivational conversations about retiring to Kona, Hawaii. I will miss your insight on raising two daughters and how important it is to be there for them. Mike used to always say, “Wait until your kids grow up and start to date boys.” I will miss Mike (Briz) Brislane.

Rest in peace, Officer Brislane. You will be greatly missed spiritually and physically. The smile you gave everyone coming in and out the gate. The “Ary, what do you have for lunch today? Oh, Panda. You always have Panda.” Rest in peace, partner. Your shoes will be hard to fill. I pray for peace and comfort to your family.

Officer Brislane’s kindness, respectful way on the job and his smile will surely be missed. He was genuine, fair and funny. Last visiting day he was there, I’d let him know that in the future he shouldn’t take vacation on Saturdays and Sundays because it wasn’t the same when he wasn’t there. God bless his family — at work and at home.

  33. J. Hagerman Wednesday, October 14, 2015 / 6:28 am

RIP and know that you will be missed and remembered always.

Michael was a very good and caring man. While always wearing a smile, he made a positive difference being here on earth and at work. He was never late to work and always kept things clean and in order. He was professional at all times, even as he dealt with people giving him a hard time about being strict. He did his job well. I haven’t met a better entrance C.O. in three prisons. He has touched many lives here and is forever in our hearts.
