Avenal State Prison (ASP) Honor Guard paid tribute to Sgt. Bobby Crews and his dedicated service to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at ASP.

Along with the family, ASP staff from all areas of the prison, including many retired co-workers, showed their support and respect on Oct. 23  during a memorial service for Sgt. Crews.

ASP Honor Guard presented the colors and the Crews family expressed their gratitude for the tremendous support of every co-worker as well as the support they received from Warden Carl Wofford and Chief Deputy Warden Rosemary Ndoh.

Sgt. Crews started his career with the department on Sept. 14, 1996, and reported to ASP on Oct. 28, 1996, as a Correctional Officer.

On Dec. 31, 2001, he transferred to the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility (SATF) as a Correctional Officer.

On Aug. 15, 2005, he promoted to Correctional Sergeant and subsequently reported to ASP.

ASP reported the passing of Sgt. Crews on Sept. 24.
