Chuckawalla Valley State Prison staff recently raised more than $3,500 for the Blythe Cancer Resource Center.

The money was raised by the CVSP Employees’ Association, which organized a “Steps for the Cure” team.

Cancer survivors, family and friends showed up on Oct. 17 to walk at the Palo Verde High School in Blythe.  Candles were lit in honor of survivors and in memory of those lost to cancer.

The CVSP team did an outstanding job raising $3,584.  A “Gift Card Tree” worth hundreds of dollars donated by CVSP staff raised $2,010 in a drawing.  An additional $1,574 was raised in team member sponsorship for the walk.

All money raised will stay in the Palo Verde Valley community to be used for local patients and their families.

The donation will help support patient services, which include one-on-one patient support services, finding a doctor, assistance with applications to National Organizations, and the logistics of getting to and from treatment.
