California Correctional Center (CCC) staff presented Stephanie Midthum from Courage Worldwide with a $1,981 check on Jan. 15.

Courage Worldwide is a national organization committed to combating the horrors of child sex trafficking.  The donated funds, produced through an inmate photo sale, will be used by Courage Worldwide to build shelters in order to provide these unfortunate victims a safe environment.

According to the charitable organization, there are 300,000 children at risk for being trafficked for sex.  In 2015, 154 young girls in the Sacramento area alone were turned away due to a lack of bed space.  The goal of Courage Worldwide is to build 1,000 more shelters, so no child will be turned away.
