Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp recently took eight firefighters to join the community in a friendly kickball tournament.

The guys came into the Jan. 31 tournament without knowledge of how the game was played however they were able to catch on pretty quickly, according to organizers.

Pine Grove Crew I played against the coaches for their first game. It started off slow but as they were able to see how the game was played, they were able to work together and win. This game ended up setting the tone for the whole tournament as Pine Grove Crew I was able to win each game they played.

After winning over the Gym Class Legends, it came down to Pine Grove Crew I vs. the Ninjas for the win.  After six innings, Pine Grove Crew I came out victorious as they beat the Ninjas.

Pine Grove Crew II played against the Free Agents who proved too good. Pine Grove Crew II was eliminated from the tournament, but they stayed to cheer for Pine Grove Crew I.

Both teams were treated to Chinese food where they tried to master the art of chop sticks. They ended the day heading back to camp and the snow.

After the tournament, the youth were taken to a Chinese restaurant to attempt to learn how to use chopsticks.
