CDCR nears stopping point to accept Correctional Officer applications

Since opening for Correctional Officer applications on May 2, the Office of Peace Officer Selection (OPOS) has received over 9,300 new applications.  After 10,000 applications have been received OPOS will again stop accepting new applications while the applications received since May 2 are processed through the written exam.

The reason for closing the application process again is to avoid the large glut of applicants that at one point created a delay of up to six months in scheduling for the written exam.  OPOS’ goal is to have applicants scheduled to take the written exam within 30-60 days of application.  A future update will announce the reopening of the application process.

As of May 27, OPOS had received 9,307 applications.
