Our Promise: California State Employees Giving at Work, formerly known as the California State Employee Charitable Campaign, will kick off Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the west steps of the State Capitol.

Over 140 nonprofit organizations will be in attendance to help state employees learn about where their donations can go.

This legislatively-mandated campaign was established in 1957 to provide a single charitable fundraising drive for the California state employee community.

Every fall, each state employee is given the opportunity to donate to a nonprofit organization of their choice via monthly payroll deduction.

Employees will receive a pledge form and a comprehensive list of registered organizations, which can be found at https://www.ourpromiseca.org/find-nonprofit.

Employees may also donate to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit not listed on the site by utilizing the “Write-In Organization” section of the pledge form.   Payroll deduction donations start for a little as $5 per month.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) employees will be receiving their pledge forms mid-September.

In 2015, CDCR employees contributed over $511,000 to the Our Promise initiative.  Our goal for 2016 is to reach $550,000.
