Officers Josh Templeton and Scott Clain from the California Correctional Center’s Investigative Services Unit were a big hit at a middle school career fair.

Officers Josh Templeton and Scott Clain from the California Correctional Center’s Investigative Services Unit (ISU), along with other department heads, visited Diamond View Middle School in Susanville to participate in their seventh-grade career fair. The unit and their K-9 partners stole the show.

This annual event, which is hosted by the Lassen Office of Education, allows seventh-graders throughout the school district an opportunity to meet professionals from various careers.  In attendance were numerous law enforcement and safety departments including California Highway Patrol, Lassen County Sheriff’s Department, Susanville Police Department, U.S. Forest Service, CAL-FIRE, as well as various public service agencies and local businesses.

Each class started at a separate station. At each station, the children spent 15 minutes speaking to representatives of each profession and engaging in a question-and-answer session, allowing the students an opportunity to get an idea what each job is all about.

At the completion of each session, students were given a gift and treated to a demonstration by their canine partners, Officers Hunter and Joker.

Hunter and Joker put on a show by demonstrating their ability to detect cellular phones.  As with other public events, Joker and Hunter were the highlight of the day.
