Lt. Michael Phillips coordinated the event. Christian Pfeiffer, Warden of Kern Valley State Prison, along with Correctional Officer Michael Phillips Jr. attended the event to represent KVSP. Capt. Brian Chapman and Correctional Sgt. Sandra Copeland were in attendance to represent NKSP.

Sgt. Copeland received a $500 tip from a patron in support of the event. This is the largest single donation in Kern Country’s history of hosting the Tip-A-Cop event. KVSP and NKSP raised $3,000 for the Special Olympics.

During the event CDCR Staff served as waiters, delivering food and drinks with their “tips” donated to Special Olympics. Proceeds from this event will go directly to support Special Olympics teams in Kern County. In all this was a win-win event, with CDCR Staff interacting with the public for a worthy cause.
