The California Medical Facility administrative and executive staff, along with the CMF Fire Department, came together for the first “Fill the Boot” drive on Dec. 6.

Warden Robert Fox, Fire Chief Joe McAtee, Correctional Sergeant Jay Modesto, Fire Captain Patrick Chalmers, Public Information Officer Megan Cherinka, Community Resource Manager David Maldonado, Associate Government Program Analyst Jessica Hume, Fire Captain Josh Smithee, and Health Care CEO David Horch donned some dress downs, grabbed a boot and went to work for a great cause.

Hope Home for Homeless Veterans provides a hand up for those veterans who return from duty in dire condition, including their families. Mission Solano provides specialized counselors and staff for transitional and emergency housing. The Hope Home provides up to 45 veterans a warm place to sleep, three meals a day, breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty for veterans in need.

All donations will go toward partnering with Mission Solano to remodel the homeless veterans men’s dorm common room and provide necessities to help facilitate a fresh start.

Awesome job! So proud of CMF to not only collect the money but also do the remodel work. A beautiful job from start to finish to such deserving people.

Thanks for doing this! This is one of the truly worthy causes that deserves all the help it can get. These men and women give their all and should be helped in any way we can.
