Pelican Bay SP staff not only purchased gifts for young students at a local school, they also distributed them in style with Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves and others.

For six years, Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP) has taken on what’s known as “Operation Santa,” in which the prison sponsors a school in the county.

Every first-grade and kindergarten student in the selected school write letters to Santa with their Christmas wishes. Staff at PBSP then pick a letter to help fulfill the child’s wishes.

On the day of the event, a sergeant dons a Santa outfit, rides the PBSP Fire truck and arrives at the school to pass out presents.

Each child is called by name where Santa and Mrs. Claus pass out a small treat and their gift. Staff volunteer as elves and assist in passing of gifts.

Young students at a local school were treated to a visit by Santa, who gave them gifts. The gifts were purchased by PBSP staff.
