Staff from all areas of California Medical Facility (CMF) came together for an afternoon of softball recently as management, medical staff and the Department of State Hospitals took on members of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association (CCPOA).
The game was held at a spot particularly meaningful to CMF staff: Al Patch Park in Vacaville. Patch was a correctional officer who was killed in the line of duty at CMF on Aug. 17, 1980.
The day provided an opportunity to relax, enjoy a softball game and build a bridge between groups for further communication. It was a friendly, team-building competition – and CCPOA won, 13-8.
