Did you know that CDCR has a surplus warehouse?

The CDCR Surplus Warehouse is run by Office of Business Services staff, which stocks desirable furniture that is often utilized by CDCR facilities, programs, institutions and offices. If CDCR programs are in need and aware of the surplus furniture available, it can result in a reduction of purchasing cost and environmental impact through the reutilization of existing furniture.

CDCR’s Surplus Warehouse in Stockton is run by the Office of Business Services.

There is no cost to CDCR programs for surplus furniture; however the requesting program is responsible for the logistics and transportation cost of items.

One of example of the benefit to CDCR is the recent opening of the Custody-to-Community Transitional Reentry Program (CCTRP) Facility in Stockton.

When opening a new facility, there are a considerable amount of items needed to conduct daily operations.  The CCTRP and its participants wanted to improve the library by getting more books. To help build CCTRP’s library, CALPIA held a book drive.  The staff donated a variety of books, making the book drive very successful. To store the books, CALPIA contacted the CDCR Surplus Warehouse for book shelves; as a result three book shelves were transferred to CCTRP.

All visits, deliveries or pick-ups for the warehouse are by appointment only and are scheduled via email at m_amu@cdcr.ca.gov . When contacting the CDCR Surplus Warehouse Normal warehouse please provide the details of your request and contact information in your email and a warehouse representative will contact you within two business days.

To view the types of surplus furniture available, go to the CDCR Intranet, click on Business Services under the Services tab.  The link for the CDCR surplus furniture will be located under featured links on the right hand side of the screen.

The CDCR surplus warehouse is at 8364 Rovana Circle, Suite B, Sacramento, CA 95828.

Desks, shelving, chairs, tables and more are available at the warehouse.

Contact Asset Management Unit at “AMU Help@CDCR.ca.gov” and one of the team will attempt to help you. However, it is most likely an IT issue because we just tested the inventory workbook and it is not blank. Thank you.

I think it’s important to recognize the person who has been responsible for providing this service to CDCR and affiliated agencies. When I consider the phrase “going the extra mile”, I think of David Rocha, the department’s “go to” man for all things surplus (especially for those of us who work in Northern California). On numerous occasions he has assisted me with my furniture surplus needs here at FSP. He is definitely an asset to our organization, as well as, a peer who works tirelessly to defray the additional expense of purchasing new furniture within a limited budget.

I keep trying to open the warehouse inventory spreadsheet but it always comes up blank. Does that mean there is no inventory right now, or that there is an IT issue someplace?
