David Cueva

California Medical Facility (CMF) reported the passing of retired Correctional Sgt. David Cueva on Feb. 17, 2017.

He began his career as a correctional officer at CMF on May 12, 1975. On April 15, 1984, he was promoted to sergeant. He retired on Oct. 1, 2003, after 28 years of service.

Sgt. Cueva was the founder of CMF’s bike project, which remains a successful program to this day.

    He was a sergeant at CMF when I started as an officer, and one of the finest indivdual I have ever come across in my life. I saw him around town here and there after he retired. He always had a light in his eyes and a fire in his heart, just like he did as a sergeant.
