On March 8, Palo Verde College in Blythe presented its annual Career and Transfer Day. Ironwood State Prison (ISP) and Chuckawalla Valley State Prison (CVSP) were on hand to help students.

The event provides information on career and educational opportunities for local high school and community college students. Students from Palo Verde College, Palo Verde High School, Twin Palms High School and Needles High School were invited.

Approximately 300 students signed up to attend the event. Booths varied from law enforcement and military to colleges and other community employers. Besides distributing information on how to obtain state employment, ISP and CVSP handed out pamphlets containing tips on applying and interviewing for any job in general; including information on how to prepare for an interview, how to dress for success, and what characteristics an employer looks for in a potential employee.

ISP and CVSP will also be attending the annual job fair, hosted by the Employment Development Department, at Palo Verde College on April 18. The event is open to the community.
