Wasco State Prison – Reception Center (WSP-RC), volunteers and other institutions put together another successful charity event.

On March 6, WSP-RC hosted the annual Warden’s Charity Golf Tournament at the Stockdale Country Club in Bakersfield.

All team slots were filled as 144 golfers took to the course vying for the elusive “Hole-in-One” for a new car and placement in the top three ranks. The day was filled with gratification, team building skills, and public relations associated with meeting various vendors and staff from other facilities.

Warden John Sutton was passionate about his first Charity Golf Tournament and very much hands-on in managing to raise approximately $16,000 to benefit Relay for Life, a national non-profit organization, as well as local non-profit charities within the community of Wasco and Kern County, which provide assistance to the less fortunate.

WSP-RC continues to strive in maintaining a positive influence within Kern County and the community of Wasco by partnering with local organizations that give back to the local community, according to organizers.
