Avenal Fire Department helps put out fire – another example of CDCR’s many public safety services

In another case of CDCR staff helping other law enforcement and fire agencies, the Avenal State Prison Fire Department responded earlier this month to call to help quell a fire at a nearby landfill.

The fire crew fought the blaze for about 3-and-a-half hours and later returned the next day for about three hours of mop-up operation.

CDCR’s public-safety aid to other agencies is frequent and varied – from fighting wildfires to major criminal gang sweeps.

CDCR fire departments, fire crews, crisis response teams, parole agents and Office of Correctional Safety agents have helped hundreds of times over recent years to make California safer.

Amazing photo, C/O Zavala! You should enter that in a competition. I bet it would win something.
