California Rehabilitation Center, Norco Warden Gary Sandor recognized correctional sergeants Max Sievers and John Almeida for their participation in the “Battle of the Badges” boxing match, which served as a fundraiser for the local “Cops 4 Kids & Communities” non-profit organization.
The Battle of Badges in an annual event where law enforcement officers from different local agencies fight in three round exhibition boxing matches. The fights are judged individually with the winners taking home prize belts. Max “Thunder Lips” Sievers started the night off earning a Technical Knock Out (TKO) in the first round of the first fight over his opponent Israel “The Iceman” Sosa of the Riverside County Sheriff Office (RSO).

John “The Warden” Almeida dropped his opponent James ”Bull Terrier” Herrington (RSO) several times earning a TKO in the second round of the third fight. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) had six fighters in the 15 matches on the fight card, earning four wins with two loses overall for an outstanding showing.
Battle of the Badges is a charitable event with all proceeds going to COPS4Kids. Cops 4 Kids & Communities is a nonprofit organization started by law enforcement officers and community members who shared a vision of bringing opportunity and positive relationships to at risk and under privileged youth living in impoverished neighborhoods.
