The California Correctional Center (CCC) is blooming with pride after winning this year’s Western Fairs Association Blue Ribbon Award.

At the Lassen County Fair’s Opening ceremonies, Warden Ron Barnes and CCC Supervising Groundskeeper Sally Dilts were presented with the award by Fair Manager Jim Wolcott.
CCC earned this prestigious award by helping beautify the Lassen County Fairgrounds. CCC Supervising Groundskeeper Sally Dilts, designed the new planter in front of the junior livestock pavilion while inmate firefighters in CCC’s landscape operations department updated the remainder of the fairgrounds.
“We were asked by the Lassen County Fair Board to design and build a replacement landscape in front of the livestock pavilion that had been destroyed by a recent fire,” said Dilts. “The project was a joint effort with Cal Fires inmate crews working with the CCC landscape crew. All the rock used in the display was gathered from Schaffer Mountain.”

Once again, CDCR has taken staff and CCC inmate talents into the community and shown what their education and hard work can do. For more information on CCC, please visit their homepage at
