The Office of Research at CDCR compiles information for the various divisions.  The information collected contains the latest statistics and significant trends. This research features statistics about adult and youth offenders in State prisons, juvenile facilities, community correctional facilities and those on parole.
The Office of Public and Employee Communications receives hundreds of requests from reporters every year for news for information to complete news articles.

Data are collected to convey a broader view of the state’s inmate population. The budget data, however, are by fiscal year. The data were generated largely by CDCR’s Office of Research, the Juvenile Research Branch and Budget Office with support from numerous CDCR program staff.  This information is useful in learning more about CDCR’s goals and mission.

The information and various reports are available on the Department’s website, under the heading statistics.
