CDCR has just completed construction of a mental health treatment facility that soon will be operated by the Department of Mental Health. Licensed as an Intermediate Level mental health care facility, the $33.7 million 45,000-square-foot facility is the first construction financed by revenue bonds authorized by Assembly Bill 900, the Public Safety and Rehabilitation Services Act of 2007, to be completed. Located on the grounds of the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, it will provide in-patient treatment for up to 64 inmates at a time, referred by clinicians at CDCR’s institutions for adult male inmates. The first patients are expected by the end of the month. A similar facility is under construction for female patients.
