The Office of Resource Planning has extended the hours of its call center to answer questions from employees who received one of the more than 4,000 placement or layoff letters mailed this week.
The dates for the extended hours are:
Friday, Sept. 28 – open until 7 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 29 – 8 a.m. – noon
Monday, Oct. 1 – open until 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 2 – open until 7 p.m.
The effective date of layoffs is Oct. 30, and the effective date for placements is Oct. 31.
Employees in the rank-and-file peace officer categories – Correctional Officer; Parole Agent; Parole Agent II (Specialist); Correctional Counselor I; Correctional Counselor II; and Correctional Counselor II (Specialist) – will receive a second chance to move into a vacant position to avoid layoff.
Worksheets for the second chance to move – known as Additional Wave 2 Opportunities – will be sent to the affected employees. Those wishing to participate must select the positions they would be willing to fill and then rank them by preference. The decisions are binding and irrevocable. Employees are told not to select any position that they could not or would not be willing to fill.
The timeframe for participating is tight. Worksheets must be returned to the Office of Resource Planning (ORP) by close of business Oct. 2, and awards for Additional Wave 2 Opportunities positions will be mailed the week of Oct. 8.
