Avenal State Prison (ASP) personnel helped make the recent 11th annual South Valley Battle of the Badges Blood Drive a big success.
In the Correctional Facility Category, ASP won with 137 people donating blood.
“Emergency personnel are more familiar with the fragility of life and the need for blood donations than most,” said Dean Eller, president and CEO of the Central California Blood Center. “We appreciate everything they do, and with this blood drive, they continue to go above and beyond the call of duty, especially helping just prior to the upcoming holiday season.”
The Central California Blood Center is the sole provider of blood and blood products for the 31 hospitals in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Kings and Mariposa counties and must collect at least 5,000 to 6,000 pints of blood monthly to meet the needs of the valley community.
