Staff and inmates at the California Correctional Center recently raised more than $7,000 for good causes in Lassen County.

The Lassen County Toys for Tots program is $2,000 richer, thanks to proceeds from photo sales of inmate photos from the California Correctional Center (CCC).

Recently Warden (A) R. L. Gower presented the group a $2,000 check.  CCC staff is sponsoring a toy drive for Toys for Tots as well.

Warden Gower later donated more than $1,300 to the Lassen County Victim/Witness Assistance Program – Food for Families Program.  Inmates at CCC employed by the joint venture program, Five Dot Land and Cattle, contributed more than $300.

On Dec. 1, CCC held the 23rd annual Hobby Craft Auction for the Lassen County Victims of Crime Program. This auction is primarily made up of donated hobby craft items produced by inmates in the northern camp system.

Proceeds are used to help victims of crime pay for legal services, transportation, temporary housing, utilities and other associated costs. CCC staff and inmates’ contributions helped raise $3,932.00 to aid those in need.

The success of this auction is made possible by the hard work, talent and dedication of both inmates and staff who are committed to a common goal in helping the community.

CCC is proud to be able to donate more than $7,000 to the good causes within their community.
