California State Prison, Sacramento (SAC) reports the passing of retired CDCR employee, Paul Dobreff.

On April 1, 2013, Mr. Dobreff  died from complications associated with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Mr. Dobreff  began his career with state Corrections in 1956 at Tehachapi State Prison as a Correctional Officer.

During his career, he worked at conservation camps, the California Institution for Men, the Correctional Training Facility and the California Rehabilitation Center. He also was a Parole Agent in San Jose and San Quentin on three different occasions.

Mr. Dobreff retired from San Quentin State Prison as an Associate Warden on Oct. 1, 1985, with 32 years of state service. He returned as a retired annuitant working in the Appeals Division, and with the Board of Prison Terms.

Mr. Dobreff’s survivors include a daughter who works at SAC and a grandson, who is a Correctional Officer at the California Medical Facility.

The employees at the California State Prison, Sacramento wish to extend their sincere condolences to his family.
