Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. has appointed several wardens and an Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs at CDCR.
The Governor has appointed Alexander Maurice Gonzales as warden at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison.
Gonzales has served as acting warden since 2011 and was chief deputy warden from 2010 to 2011, associate warden from 2008 to 2010, and facility captain from 2000 to 2008.
Warden Gonzales served in multiple positions at California State Prison, Los Angeles County, from 1989 to 2000, including correctional lieutenant and facility captain and at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility from 1986 to 1989, including correctional counselor and sergeant.
He was a correctional officer at the California Institution for Men from 1982 to 1985.
Gov. Brown appointed Amy Miller as warden at California State Prison, Centinela, where she has served as acting warden since 2012. She was chief deputy warden in 2012 and associate warden from 2010 to 2012.
Warden Miller has served in multiple positions at the Calipatria State Prison, including facility captain from 2007 to 2010, correctional lieutenant and sergeant from 2000 to 2006, and correctional officer from 1996 to 1999. She was a correctional captain at the California Institution for Women from 2006 to 2007 and a correctional officer at California State Prison, Centinela, from 1999 to 2000.
Gov. Brown appointed Kenneth Pogue as Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs. Pogue has been a deputy attorney general at the California Department of Justice since 1999.
He was an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Porter Scott Weiberg and Delehant from 1997 to 1999. Pogue was a contract attorney at the Law Office of Robert Tronvig in 1997 and a contract district attorney in the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office in 1996. He earned a juris doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
None of the appointments requires Senate confirmation.
