Were you aware that in America one in four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime?

As part of the observance of October as Domestic Violence Awareness, the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board (CalVCP) is sponsoring “Suited for Successful Families.” (You may not be able to access this link for a CDCR computer.)

It’s an expansion of the “Suited for Success” annual drive that, in addition to asking for professional attire for men and women, is seeking to provide for the basic needs of the child victims of domestic violence.

The drive seeks to help victims through their pain and to move forward in the fight to eradicate domestic violence.

A donation site has been set up in the lobby of the north building at CDCR Headquarters, 1515 S St., Sacramento.

Donations being sought include professional attire for men and women; new or gently used men’s, women’s and children’s clothing; diapers; and new toys, unopened.

Other donation sites include CalVCP Headquarters, first-floor lobby, 400 R St., Sacramento; The Governor’s Office, Suite 1173, State Capitol, Sacramento; Chicory Tea and Coffee, 11th and L streets, Sacramento; Vallejo’s Restaurant, 11th and O streets, Sacramento; Folsom City Hall, 50 Natoma St., Folsom; and Folsom Police Headquarters, 46 Natoma St., Folsom.
